Snowman Pizzas for Christmas
These Snowman Pizzas for Christmas are great fun to make with the kids! Keep the kids entertained in the school holidays and create a healthy lunch.
Making dough from scratch is a great learning opportunity but if you are pushed for time, just use round pita breads or pre-made pizza bases instead!
Snow Man Pizzas
Ingredients:- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tsp (1 sachet) dried yeast
- 4 cups plain flour
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 9 tbsp pizza sauce
- 1 ball mozzarella (approximately 450 g), cut into small circles
- 3 black olives
- 1 carrot, peeled
- Peppercorns
Method:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and honey. Set it aside for about 5 minutes or until it becomes foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the centre and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix thoroughly, using your hands to bring the dough together.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead it for at least 10 minutes. Add additional flour as needed to form a smooth and elastic dough. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size. For best results, leave it for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C and line a baking tray.
- Dust your work surface with flour, then knead the dough and form it into a long cylinder. Divide it into six equal parts and use a rolling pin to roll each part into a disc.
- Place the dough discs on the prepared baking tray. Add 1 ½ tablespoons of tomato paste to each disc, spreading it evenly to create the snowmen's faces.
- Now, it's time to assemble the snowmen. Place three mozzarella circles on each pizza to make the snowmen bodies. Use peppercorns for eyes and buttons.
- Cut small carrot shapes for the noses and olives into hat shapes. These will give your snowmen their final festive touches.
- Bake your Pizza Snowmen in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until they're golden and delightful.
- Allow your Pizza Snowmen to cool slightly before serving.
