Our Favourite Toddler Recipes
Feeding toddlers can be a tricky business, because quite often at this age they become a bit fussier and want to exert their autonomy! Here are our favourite toddler recipes to give you some inspiration.
All of these recipes are super simple to make, easy on the budget and make great healthy alternatives to processed foods for your toddler.
Toddler Food Ideas
Sweet Potato Biscuits
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cooked or steamed sweet potato
- 1 cup flour (spelt, plain or wholemeal)
- 35 g melted butter
- 1/2 cup grated cheese
Method:
Preheat your oven to 180°C. Peel, dice and steam or cook sweet potatoes until tender. Drain any excess water and mash the sweet potatoes with a fork until smooth. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potato, flour, butter, and shredded cheese to form a dough. If the dough feels too sticky, add a little more flour, but be careful not to add too much—just enough so that you can easily shape the biscuits.
Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/2 cm using a rolling pin. Use cookie cutters to shape the biscuits into fun shapes. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Once baked, allow the biscuits to cool on a rack.
Store the cooled biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, you can freeze the biscuits for up to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.

Peanut and Banana Biscuits
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe or overripe banana
-
1 cup peanut butter
Method:
Preheat the oven to 180℃. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Mash the bananas in a big bowl either with a fork or in a high-speed blender. Add the peanut butter to the mashed banana.
Using a whisk or a spoon, make sure that the bananas and the peanut butter are fully combined into a smooth batter. Scoop the dough with a tablespoon, shape into a circle (flattened ball) and put on the tray. Continue until you have used up all the dough.
If you want a visual effect of your cookies, you can press each one on top with a fork. To prevent the fork from sticking, you can refrigerate the cookies for about 30 minutes before using the fork method.
Bake for about 14 minutes. Remove from the oven once baked and allow to slightly cool before serving.

"These products are lovely. Between the snackies, moulds, placemats and stickie plates we have a nice little collection that are well loved. So versatile and durable too." ~ Skye
"I love the tray. I purchased one first to see how it was. It is so easy to clean. The mess is contained and it’s easy for the kids to use. They love them. I ended up buying 4. I would definitely recommend them. I don’t have to wash the table cloth every day now. Saves water and time. Plus endless chatter amongst the kids about the design on them as I brought different ones to keep it different. I was also happy with the price." ~ Jodie
