Today we want to introduce you to one of our favourite brands, Aster & Oak.
Melissa is a Western Australian mum of two, founder, owner and designer of dreamy clothing range, Aster & Oak, a 100% organic baby clothing brand with a focus on affordability.
It was Melissa's personal experience with our her children’s skin allergies that led her to research and craft a range of eco-friendly, certified organic baby clothing which is safe, non-toxic, low-allergenic and free from any hidden nasties.
Melissa had a dream to create a range of clothing that was beautifully soft and as natural as possible whilst still maintaining a stylish and practical edge. After countless hours of research and road testing, a love for all things organic and a background in design, Aster & Oak was born!
All the clothing is made using the purest 100% GOTS certified organic cotton making them gentle on your baby’s skin and even gentler on our environment.
Brimming with character, each piece is adorned in the most delightfully playful and whimsical design. Melissa and her husband work together alongside a small team of local artists, who hand-illustrate each enchanting collection that’s now worn by families across the world.

Our products are ethically & sustainably made in our GOTS certified factories in India and China. You can read more about our manufacturing journey here : https://www.asterandoak.com.au/pages/faqs
We get asked all the time why we are not Australian made. The quick answer is that we would love nothing more than to make our clothing in Australia and to be able to display the Australian made logo but the red tape and costs involved have made it near impossible for us to achieve this. We have spent many months researching how we could carry out every stage of production within Australia but as of 2019, there very little organic cotton growers left in Australia. This is due to our fluctuating climate, lack of water in most suitable growing regions and for various other reasons, growing Organic Cotton in Australia currently appears to be commercially unfeasible.
